Provides court representation in civil actions for the indigent. Includes interview by either a paralegal or an attorney, court preparation and appearance, and concluding interview to explain judicial determination of the case. Will not handle fee-producing cases, criminal cases, traffic cases. Divorce unit is only located at central office. Assists individuals who have been turned down for SSD/SSI. Services are free for low income people who qualify and for those over 60 who need help with landlord/tenant evictions, housing conditions, AFDC/Food Stamps, Medicaid/Medicare, Home ownership / mortgage foreclosure, hospital collections/utility cut-off and other poverty law issues. Unit for income-eligible people infected with HIV/AIDS.

A voluntary court based on principles of choice and client-centered treatment and recovery. The Mental Health Court objective is to promote public safety and personal recovery. Misdemeanors only. No DUI or domestic violence.
