PROTECTIVE SERVICES for children
TYPES OF PROTECTIVE SERVICES:
A court ordered placement is made when a member of the
community reports possible abuse, neglect, or abandonment
by a parent. Protective Services investigates the situation
to see if it is dangerous for a child to remain in the home.
If a danger exists the police and a Protective Services worker
may remove the child immediately and place the child in
emergency foster care.
A voluntary placement is made when the parent is temporarily,
unable to care for a child. Some of the acceptable reasons are;
inadequate housing for a short time or hospitalization of the
mother when no one else is available to care for a child.
