SEXUAL ABUSE/ASSAULT OF CHILDREN

 

WARNING SIGNS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE:

 

Ø  NIGHTMARE, TROUBLE SLEEPING, FEAR OF THE DARK, OR OTHER SLEEPING PROBLEMS.

Ø  EXTREME FEAR OF “MONSTERS”.

Ø  SPACING OUT AT ODD TIMES.

Ø  LOSS OF APPETITE, OR TROUBLE EATING OR SWALLOWING.

Ø  SUDDEN MOOD SWINGS: RAGE, FEAR, ANGER, OR  WITHDRAWL.

Ø  FEAR OF CERTAIN PEOPLE OR PLACES.

Ø  STOMACH ILLNESS ALL OF THE TIME WITH NO IDENTIFIABLE REASON.

Ø  AN OLDER CHILD BEHAVING LIKE  A YOUNGER CHILD, SUCH AS BED-WETTING OR THUMB  SUCKING.

Ø  SEXUAL ACTIVITIES WITH TOYS OR OTHER CHILDREN.

Ø  NEW WORDS FOR PRIVATE BODY PARTS.

Ø  REFUSING TO TALK ABOUT A ‘SECRET’ HE/SHE HAS WITH AN ADULT OR OLDER CHILD.

Ø  TALKING ABOUT A NEW OLDER FRIEND.

Ø  SUDDENLY HAVING MONEY.

Ø  CUTTING OR BURNING HERSELF OR HIMSELF AS AN  ADOLESCENT.

Individual family and group counseling for child and adult victims of sexual assault and/or sexual abuse.

Provides 24 hour/7 days a week forensic medical examinations and interviews.  Crisis counseling and victim advocacy also provided.  DCF and law enforcement contacted when victim is a child

STARTING PLACE – Outpatient Counseling                         954-925-2225

Provides individual, family, couples, and group counseling for youth and adults on an out-patient basis.  Topics include drug/alcohol, sexual abuse, eating disorders, co-dependency, and dysfunctional family issues.  Structured not to interfere with work, school, or family obligations.  J
